With their 4 children 5 and under, the G family is blessed with a gaggle of adorable little ones. Their crew were shy, so my task was to capture the essence of their family while being sensitive to the children’s reserved character. I often feel very understanding of little ones who are hesitant during photo sessions, being a shy person myself. Hiding behind my mother’s skirts was one of my go-tos as a young child. However, there are still so many opportunities to capture the genuine character of your child, and usually it’s not by saying “smile!” I use my knowledge of photography to find creative ways to bring out their true selves, whether through play, interaction, or direction.
